Tempered glass

Tempered glass is the first thing comes to our sight when we see a shower enclosure.

Normally there are three kinds of thickness for glass panels. 6, 8 and 10 mm. We can also make 12mm, but not many people ask for it.

Some factories prefer 4 mm tempered glass, which is under safety standards of GALAXY HOME. Therefore, we recommend tempered glass of 6mm at least.

Thichness is related to weight, the thicker, the heavier. And we will quote according to the thickness and area.

1 ㎡ of 6 mm glass panel is 15 kg, 1 ㎡ of 8 mm is 20 kg, 1 ㎡ of 10 mm is 25 kg, and 1 ㎡ of 12 mm is 30 kg.

Technics for tempered glass now are mature and advanced. GALAXY HOME factory tempers the glass by removing nickel pyrite and other impurities. The less nickel pyrite and impurities, the less possible tempered glass may explode. The international standard for self-explosion rate is 0.3%. We are now able to achieve 0.1%, a rate that is much lower than the industry, making sure our shower enclosures are safe and high-quality.

The Frame & Structure

We can make shower enclosures with or without frames. And the material can be aluminum or stainless steel with different surface treatments. For example, stainless steel frame with brushed finish, or anodized aluminum frame.

Thickness of frames is also important. Although we cannot see the difference between a thick frame and a thin frame, thickness concerns the whole structure and firmness. The aluminum frames we use are 1.2-2.5 mm, and stainless steel are 0.8-1 mm. The frame with sufficient thickness is strong enough to last long, hold up and ensure safety.
